Cathryn Skerry, BSc Applied Psychology/Under Graduate Diploma, Low/High Intensity CBT/Post Graduate DiplomaCathryn has over 15 years experience working in mental health in London & Wales.
She is a fully accredited BABCP Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist; with full training in EMDR. She also has training in a specialist therapy for people who have experienced multiple traumas called Narrative Exposure Therapy. She has worked in various settings; including a medium secure forensic setting, an acute stroke ward and primary care services. Most recently, since June 2017 she has been supporting the community impacted by the Grenfell Tower Fire in the local specialist NHS service, working with both members of the public and professionals.
This involves working with trauma (PTSD & complex), complex bereavement, clients with a refugee background and arranging workshops for businesses and clients around mental health awareness. Currently, she is undertaking research looking at the incidence of imagery within hotspots in PTSD.She is also working with the University of South Wales offering private supervision to CBT trainees, and marking work alongside plans to deliver some lectures.
Her interests on top of trauma include anxiety (GAD / phobias inc vomit / trichotillomania / panic attacks), low self-esteem, long term health conditions; in particular chronic pain, COPD, cardiac and stroke survivors, and offering an LGBTQ+ friendly service. She can also offer Skype video and text therapy.
